First we established the criteria we would measure the froyos on. We would rate these 1 - 10, with 10 being the highest.
We came up with:
- Price
- Nutrition
- Flavor selection
- Flavor of the sample
- Consistency of the sample (creaminess factor)
Then of course our overall impressions. We sampled chocolate and original tart. E said the employees are going to think we're from Zagat's and might treat us special. This was not the case (unfortunately).
This place just opened less than a mo. ago, so we've been excited to try it. With exception to the chocolate looking a little (a lot) like a cat turd, we voted this the best chocolate. It was really creamy & flavorful. The tart unfortunately, not so much. It was the cheapest at $0.46/ oz. I loved the pink and green (Lilly Pulitzer anyone?) inside decor and the frog of course!
This was our old standby for most of 2012 (I think they opened in Jan), but now there's some competition! We found it to have the WORST consistency, it comes out like watery diarrhea at first and then tastes icy. They have the most flavor choices (red velvet, yes please), but what good is a lot of crappy choices?! Quality over quantity people (a rule I don't really live by, but would like to). The flavor of the tart was better than Sweet Frog, but not the chocolate. They were a little more expensive at $0.49/ oz. but the same most other shops and always offer a 10% discount if you're a "friend" and they have $1 coupons too.
This was neither good nor bad. The chocolate wasn't very flavorful, but the tart was, and both were very creamy. We are hypothesizing that places that are more like Pinkberry with a really good tart, usually have not as good other flavors and not as much of a selection. Parking is terrible at the location we went to (in fact, there was almost a parking spot war), so we rated parking higher than any other factors and probably won't come here that often.
We have only seen these in malls (big plus for me). Yogenfruz only sells froyo in cup sizes, so it's not pay by the ounce like the others. We did the math on a small tart (the cheapest) and it was by far the priciest! However, you know what you're going to pay, unlike the other weigh and pay (it usually is a lot more than what you're expecting and all they have are stupid jumbo cups). E voted this the best tart for overall flavor and creaminess. The chocolate is nasty tasting. They don't do swirls (another positive for the weigh and pay) because they have to use a pre-wrapped choco brick and put it in with the tart machine.
