What Does The E Say: A Late Link Up

I can’t even with Ethan sometimes. He lives to embarrass me. This is a terribly late link up, but I just have too many E gems to share with the world (or maybe they should be locked deep away in a dark closet)....
Voyage of the Mee Mee

  • His latest nickname for me is stinkrat. He’s also referred to me a pork chop as well.
  • Last week while commuting in together (on crowded Metro), I poked him to show him something in the Morning Express, and he responds by saying (too loudly) “No Ma'am, you CANNOT touch my penis!”
  • His parents want to give us some furniture when they move. When they asked him about an item, he told them, "I dunno, you’ll have to ask the Fuhrer." He also has referred to me as “the Boss” or “Heffe” while we shop, talk to his parents, have anything moved, when we had a little bit of kitchen work done, etc.

Ethan on Pregnancy/ a New Baby
  • I was so excited someone finally asked me if I was pregnant. He says “I’ll pay you $5 next time someone asks you if you’re pregnant, look horrified, and say ‘why would you ask me that, do I look fat?!’”
  • Do you think we can register for a Panini grill for the baby registry?
  • I think it's a girl becasue my wallet's been tingling.
He was actually very well-behaved when we went to Babies R Us to register. I think only because we were going to get lunch afterwards and I said I would be too angry to get lunch if this didn't go well.

Shopping with Ethan: (I really should have learned my lesson already and just leave him home when I want to go shopping)

  • A classic, while walking into Forever 21, he loudly asks, “aren’t you waaay past 21 to be shopping here?”
  • Not what he says, but does, takes the stuffed dogs at VS Pink and puts them in compromising positions.
  • He also likes to find a spot to sit in to check sports. The best was when he sat on the floor by a display in the back on Loft.
  • He also loves to pick up an XXL shirt and say, isn't this your size? He also likes to wave giant granny panties in the air and say isn't this what you need Kim?

Boys Behind the Blog Link Up #9

It's time for one of my favorite link ups! It's always a treat (?) to see what Ethan is going to say next.

Boys Behind The Blog

1. If you could live anywhere, where would you live? Knoxville, duh. (I think he's being facetious because I always say I miss it).
2. Sand or snow? Sand (I've had enough snow this year, thank you).
3. What Winter Olympic sport would you rock at? Bobsled
4. You're cooking a romantic dinner- what is your go-to dish? A great dessert for my boo. (He knows me well)
5. Fill in the blank: This year, I gave (your wife/girlfriend/fiance's name) a ____________________ for Valentine's Day? Flowers and candy.

I don't have many pics of the E that I haven't used over and over, so I thought I'd get a new one. This is my sweet petunia:

Last night," please let me get a cute pic of you and the cat for the blog." I am trying not to offend, but you probably get what he's up to. (FYI, he's not terrible, just a jokester, we were both laughing)

Nov. Boy Behind My Blog Link Up

Once a month, I have been linking up give you some insight into what I am dealing with at home. J/K, hope you enjoy learning more about E.

Mal Smiles

1. Who is your favorite band/musician? Really, anything but Country music

This is lame, I probed him to give you all a better answer, but no, this is all he's got.

2. What was your first CD/tape? I'm pretty sure it was a Michael Jackson "Thriller" tape; yes, I'm old enough to remember when CDs weren't even available!

3. Who was your first concert? Aerosmith in 1993 or 1994

4. What is your favorite Thanksgiving food? Green Bean Casserole
This is true, my man goes crazy for some GBC as he calls it.

5. Finish the sentence: I am thankful for... being healthy, a loving wife, a great family and in-laws, and to being relatively comfortable in life.

Ethan's Favorite Halloween Movies

Hello, Pink Droppers, this is Kim's husband, Ethan.  I've been granted reprieve from Kim's "be seen, not heard" instructions, and thus I'm going to showcase the five movies that will get even the grumpiest lil' pumpkin in the Halloween spirit, in no particular order:

Alien (1979) Poster
Alien (1979)

So you're in deep space, years from Earth.  Would you pick up a hitchhiker?  No?  What a hitchhiker that gestates in your sternum, killing you when it hatches?  Still no?  What if said hitchhiker grows to a seven-foot tall, acid-for-blood killing machine?  Definitely no?  Well then you haven't grown up in East Tennessee, as that would be some tasty roadkill.  Ridely Scott's slow-building masterpiece tells the story of the doomed mining freighter Nostromo, who are awakened early from their hypersleep to investigate a strange signal coming from a nearby planetoid.  This ill-fated field trip brings back an unwanted organism that picks off the Nostromo crew one by one.  More psychological horror than gore, the film uses silence and dread rather than gore to keep the viewer on edge.  Throw in a haunting, metallic soundtrack, and you have a world-class creature feature.

ThingPoster.jpg

The Thing (1982)

Kurt Russell (don't laugh) stars in this 1980s cult classic as a member of a U.S. research team in Antarctica that stumbles upon a malevolent alien life form frozen in the deep Arctic ice.  Of course, this extraterrestrial popsicle can slowly consume humans, and upon completion, forms a perfect walking, talking, and (slightly more) psychopathic version of you.  Of course, there's also a massive Arctic storm going on outside, so no one can get in or out.  Fun!  Much gorier than Alien, but features some amazing special effects and makeup (remember kids, this is WAY before CGI and all that newfangled computer stuff).

Blair Witch Project.jpg

The Blair Witch Project (1999)

This entry might raise some eyebrows, but bear with me.  One of the most original horror films for its time, this is one of the first films to feature the now-overused "shaky cam" filming method (I'm looking at you, Cloverfield).  The premise is simple: three film students head to the wilderness around Burkitsville, Maryland to investigate the local legend of the Blair Witch.  They disappear without a trace, and the "found footage" from their camera makes up the film.  Personally, I think the scene where the three students are sitting in their tent at night, lost, tired and scared, and suddenly they hear a baby cry in the distance is one of the best scenes.  Ever.  If that scene does not give you goosebumps, you need to check your pulse.

Fun fact: This film was made for $750k, and grossed more than $248 million!

The Shining poster.jpg

The Shining (1980)

Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece of insanity really needs no introduction.  Based on a Stephen King novel, the movie revolves around Jack Torrence, a writer who takes the job of winter caretaker in a old, massive Colorado hotel to work on his writing.  He takes along his wife and young son, and they soon encounter the ghosts occupying the property.  Not a gory film, but rather a study of a man's slow descent into madness.  Highly recommended.

A clown rips through a white background, with its monster claws, and a crazed smile. At the bottom, there are small photographs of the film's main characters (Richie, Eddie, Stan, Beverly, Mike, Ben & Bill).

It (1990)

Features Pennywise the homicidal demon clown (yes, really).  Pure nightmare fuel.

Happy Halloween!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better Late Than Never: Boys Behind the Blog

Oops!!! Work and life has been crazy, but the hubs did answer the Boys Behind the Blog link up questions, so here it is!

Round #5 Questions:
1. Describe yourself in 5 words.  Funny, moderately intelligent, squeezably-soft.
2. What is your biggest fear?  Being considered a failure in life by family/friends.
3. What is your favorite candy? Milky Way, plain dark chocolate, or Mounds bars
4. What was the best Halloween costume you've ever worn? (include pictures if you have them) I was a lumberjack (and I'm okay) with my wife.  She was more excited because she thought lumberjacks drank maple syrup all day.

I like him better as a fireman ;) He has been a lumberjack twice, so yea, I would say that's his favorite.

5. Who is your favorite football team? Tennessee (college); Seattle Seahawks (NFL)

48 hours

How crazy were my past 48 hours- very.

Let me preface this by saying although the past few days were chaotic for me, they pale in comparison to what happened a few blocks from my office at Navy Yard. I am so saddened by yet another mass shooting & loss of innocent lives. Let’s hope our country gets it together and enacts some kind of legislation to help stop these crimes.

Anyway, I have been obsessed with getting a dog. I absolutely love them and wanted to get one since I’ve been out of college. When I lived in a 1 bedroom in NYC with E, he said no, we had too small a place and worked too much, so I got the 2 cats instead. E promised when we got a house with a yard, we could get a dog. So, now that we have the house, I have been stalking Petfinder & found a great dog. His foster lived 2 hours away though!
She agreed to meet us halfway for the meet & greet (which was really a formality since I knew I was ready to adopt).

Sunday we had our housewarming party. After our guests, left, we drove about 45 min. to meet her at a dog park. We of course adopted him.

He is such a good, well-behaved dog, BUT, when we went to put him in his crate for bed, he freaked out. (It was just going to be for a few weeks until we knew he could be OK out of it). I let him out, put him in, sat on the couch, etc. until I finally ended up putting the crate in the guest room and slept there & he was OK in the crate.

So E didn’t want a dog to begin with & that night he was like this dog has got to go.

Monday E was alone with the pooch most of the day & it didn’t go well. E is pretty stressed out right now, so the dog was the straw that broke the camel’s back as they say.  Monday night, I called his foster back and she said she would take the pooch back (I know, I am terrible). This time she couldn’t meet us halfway.

E was laying down because he was tired from a night of not sleeping.  I went up there & said I would take the dog back & E could rest, but E said he would go with me. Good thing, because guess what on the way home from our 4 hour round trip ride, the Taur-Dogg went out in a smoke stack of glory. Oh, there’s nothing around, except for cornfields.
We had to have it towed 20 miles away (we rode in the tow truck with them & they had the AC going & the lady smelled like BO) and got a cab home from the dealership.

We have a rental car now & are planning in getting a new car this weekend, so fun times.

EZBZ Day

Yay, I've been so excited for this blog linkup and I think E actually likes to participate. He keeps asking if I have more questions for him. So here's Behind the Boys linkup #2, otherwise known as the day EZBZ took over.

1. What celebrity would play you in a movie about your life?
Will Arnett or Rob Riggle (he just thinks these guys are funny- he looks nothing like them- ha)

2. What is your dream car?
Volvo station wagon (see above- he is a perpetual jokester)

3. Do you have any tattoos? What, where, why?
NO (this was emphatic. I also have no tats which is good I guess since he's so passionate!)

4. Boxers or briefs?
Boxer briefs

5. List 3 random facts about yourself...
I've never been skiing (water or snow); I can't stand it when people lick their finger to turn a page; I don't really like sweets.  (I'm working on the sweets thing with him ;))
