Wow- what happened?! I had all these great Dec. post ideas and then poof, the holidays are over!
So, here is what have been up to. We decorated, went to the Kennedy Center for a Christmas music spectacular, went to a couple of Christmas parties (my theme was Christmas pins, much to Ethan's chagrin),
shopped, shipped presents out, sent cards out,
went to Tennessee and back for Christmas. Drank too much, ate too much, and slept too much. It was the best!
There you have it- 3 weeks in one post :)
Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and is pumped for 2014.

Catching Up
The gov reopened and I've been crazy busy ever since!
I had time to attend the Blue Hope Bash to raise funds for Chris4Life (to fight colon cancer). It was such a wonderful and touching night, but of course I didn't take pictures! It is such a worthy cause and they are really doing great work in the fight against colon cancer. I can't wait to attend their walk next spring. If you have an opportunity to help support them, you definitely should!
I did grab this pic off Facebook though. Too bad I hunched over, my dress was cute. Most of the women in attendance wore blue, the color of colon cancer support.
On a lighter note, the event was held at a high end hotel in Georgetown and I think we spied a high end escort while we were waiting for valet (or maybe I watch too much Lifetime)!

We also had a chili cook-off at my office. I didn't win, but out of that I learned:
1. I might be obsessed with getting my chicken at a halal butcher. I made a white chicken chili using halal chicken meat and the butcher cleaned it so nice. I hate to clean raw chicken- blah.
2. I have got to get some Quorn grounds meat substitute. The winning chili was a VEGAN (yes, vegan) chili using this mushroom meat substitute. It was so delicious and I couldn't taste the difference.
Lastly, the girls finally got to get together for a HH. One of our stops was Co Co Sala. If you're in the DC area and have a chocolate tooth, you have to check this place out. Hot chocolate flight and chocolate inspired martinis- yes, please!
Have a great weekend!

Purple for Peace
It started innocently. We just wanted an excuse to have a BBQ
catered lunch, so we Googled random holidays on May 16th. Today is also National
Sea Monkey day and Liberace’s birthday along with Wear Purple for Peace Day. We asked
our boss and she thought it would cute if we all wore purple and peace is a
nice thing right?
via
via
We made a flyer & ordered delicious BBQ to be delivered to
our office. (There’s nothing around our office that’s good to eat. Seriously,
Potbelly and Quiznos is it.)
Then, someone Googled “Wear Purple for Peace Day”
Let me share with you:
"Wear Purple for Peace Day is celebrated on May 16, 2013.
It's a day to promote peace between us and any space aliens! "via
WTF, it gets better:
"According to Holiday Insights.com, aliens have
yet to visit our planet or contact us because they think we’re too hostile.
However, wearing purple apparently encourages aliens to contact us. Whether
it’s because purple is a peaceful color or a favorite color among
extraterrestrials, I am not sure."via
So I just organized a hippie, space alien celebration at the
office. At least my purple dress is cute.
Peace Out

Partay Time Kimmmmay
Linking up again today with 2 of my newly discovered &
lovin’ blogs.
I love a good party, but don’t really party like I used to. Alcohol
is drying to the skin and I am a mess after 1 glass of wine, so….
This will be some extra moisturizer
I absolutely love a themed party and will go all out for a proper
costume/ outfit.
Crazy cat lady, funny how art imitates life....
I love to dance, especially after a glass of champagne (champs,
a la housewives) or two.
From my cousins wedding- upper right corner. I'm doing the Cupid Shuffle
I also love to be naughty after a few bevs as well, which is
probably why I don’t party like I used to.
Oh well, I can still rock out with the young kids every once in a while (not on work nights and not past 10:30pm ;))

Photo Bombs
We have a lot of parties at my office. Too many. We eat a lot.
We also take too many pictures for an office party. One very sweet co-worker loves the "action" shot, where no one is paying any attention. Today, we had yet another going-away party (What's that you say, Kim, didn't you just have one yesterday? Why, yes, we did.)
Here's the email I sent to E:
Subject: OMG!
WTF, this is me at our pizza party. I’m going to break anonymous' camera and he’s going to be banned from parties if he keeps on with these candids.

my cardi looks like it's straining to keep all my goodies in check, and I'm not going into how my poor pants are takin' it to the limit.
Oh, this went to the entire staff of 40+ with the rest of the pics.
Here's another great "candid" of me at last year's Christmas party:
Split ends are my enemy, what can I say?
From now on, I only want "posed" shots, where I can suck it all in and not look like a freak.
Uhh, scratch that. No pictures at any kind of "costume-related" party.
Better, the best part is that I'm at the delicious dessert table. My favorite place to be.
