Quite a Pair

This morning was my annual eye exam. E had to drive me because I always have to have my pupils dilated due to macular degeneration (oh, you haven't heard of this- that's because it's usually for the seniors).
E's back is still out of whack, so he can't turn around when he backs up.
So E escorted me out of the doctor with my pupils dilated and thick terminator-esque sun glasses, he was hobbling and had to get into the car very slowly and I had to help him back up.
We are quite the pair- now I know what to expect when we're really old.

I guess that's what's great about being married, there's always someone there to support and help you when you're sick or need it. Even though it's been an ehh start to the New Year, I am thankful for my Boo and realize what a pretty good team we make.

Resolutions

I'm a little behind since today is January 4th, but here we go:
  1.  Save money/ become more fiscally responsible. This is the big one because goals 2 and 3 are dependent on this. As I mentioned previously, I have several mini-goals to achieve this:
    • Get rid of extra monthly expenses we don’t need, like HBO.
    • Set and stick to a budget, which includes tracking the spreadsheet monthly.
    • Try to tighten variables like groceries and clothing. (Oh, Starbucks you will be missed)
  2. Be a (town) home owner. Goal 3 is also dependent on this.
  3. Have a baby (or get preggers). Child care is expensive and we unfortunately don’t live near any family, so we are going to try to spend $1000 less per month to see how it would be if we had a kid. See how goal #1 is important now :)
This is all a bit serious for me, so here's my favorite meme (Ikea Monkey) from 2012 that always brings a smile to my face:

New Year Silver Linings

This is me.

So far, our new year hasn’t started out so great, but I’m going to try to see the silver linings:
Negative- The Taur-Dogg (our Taurus) failed the VA safety inspection and it’s going to be $1000 to fix.
Silver Lining- The mechanic was very nice and told us we could order a tail light online for $20 instead of the $250 they sold it for. So now, Taur-Dogg will only be $800.
Negative- Poor E threw his back out and can’t walk.
Silver Lining - We got seen relatively quickly at the ER and then he was able to get a MRI yesterday the same day we called.
Negative- I want to buy a house, but our landlord won’t let us out of our lease- we need to find a sub-leasee.
Silver Lining –We can save more money and there will be more places on the market when our lease is up in July.
I made several New Year’s Resolutions, but the big one is to be more fiscally responsible. There is a multi pronged approach for us achieve this (like track our weekly grocery expenses), but between up foreseen medical and auto bills, we are not doing so well!
Oh, but I did win a Perfectly Posh gift card on one of my favorite blogs: Dont Quote the Raven.
More to come since I am waaaay behind on blogging.
